ONLINE. PERSONAL. CLEAR FROM THE START.
Your questions, answered.
Everything you need to get started with live online 1:1 tuition.
How does online 1:1 tuition work?
Lessons are live online through Zoom, with one tutor working with one learner. Screen sharing allows the tutor to guide practical work and give feedback during the lesson.
Do you offer group classes or camps?
Individual tuition is online and 1:1; our previous public group classes and holiday camps are no longer offered. For schools and organisations, we offer bespoke group computing and STEM provision, with targeted 1:1 support where appropriate. Contact us to discuss your learners and programme scope.
What equipment will my child need?
A computer, keyboard and mouse, reliable internet, and headphones with a microphone. A webcam is recommended. We will confirm any course-specific software before lessons.
Does my child need previous coding experience?
No. Graphical coding offers a starting point for beginners; learners with experience can explore other streams. We discuss their interests and experience before recommending a route.
What ages do you teach?
Our coding teaching has supported learners from age six. We also offer GCSE and A-Level tuition. Ask us about a suitable starting point for your learner.
Which languages and coding topics can they explore?
The curriculum includes Scratch, Minecraft, Python, Java, Roblox and Lua, web and app development, Unity, and AI-assisted Vibe Coding. We agree a suitable topic and tools around the learner’s age, experience and interests.
How can learning to code help?
Coding gives learners practice in logical thinking, problem-solving and creating projects of their own.
How can I check tutor suitability and safeguarding arrangements?
Ask Nicholas for current safeguarding information and the checks relevant to your proposed tutor, including DBS information, before booking. We discuss the subject, learner’s goals and tutor fit before confirming tuition.
Do you teach Maths, Physics and Computer Science online?
Yes. Enquire about online 1:1 Maths, Physics and Computer Science tuition for GCSE and A-Level, plus 11+ Maths preparation. We will confirm exam-board fit, tutor availability and a suitable plan before booking.
How much are lessons and when do they run?
Expert tuition is £60 per hour (£50 + VAT), or £480 for ten one-hour lessons (£400 + VAT). Ten weekly half-hour lessons cost £240 including VAT (£200 + VAT), or £24 per session. Standard tuition with overseas tutors is £30 per hour, £270 for ten one-hour lessons, or £135 for ten half-hour lessons, all including VAT and subject to tutor availability. A single Standard half-hour lesson is £15 including VAT. Standard terms provide ten lessons for the price of nine: save £30 on one-hour lessons or £15 on half-hour lessons, including VAT. Expert package rates require the ten-lesson booking. An optional single introductory lesson uses the hourly rate. DofE has its own minimum term; commissioned and group provision is quoted separately. Times and availability are confirmed before booking.
How do I enquire?
Choose the relevant enquiry form and send your details directly to our team. You will see a confirmation and reference number once the server receives it. We review your enquiry and reply by email to discuss the plan and availability. No booking or payment is taken automatically.
What if I need to cancel or move a 1:1 lesson?
Give at least 24 hours’ notice and we can arrange a replacement time, subject to tutor availability. A late cancellation or missed lesson is charged in full and counts as used in a prepaid package. If Geeky Kids cancels, you can choose a reschedule or a refund for that lesson. Read the cancellation policy →
